About Me

Hi! My name is Kelsey. I'm currently a Genetics major at Texas A&M University - Gig 'em, Aggies! I live in Texas, alternating between my family's house with my parents and 5 dogs (yes, 5. We're crazy!) and my apartment at school with my twin sister (and 2 of said dogs). I love life, and I adore cooking.

Cooking is one of my greatest joys in life! For as long as I can remember I've helped my mom bake all sorts of tasty goodies, but I didn't really develop a love of cooking until the summer before my senior year. My mom told my sister and I, "Okay, you two are cooking dinners this summer. Go find some recipes!" And now, I cook all the time! One of my favorite parts about cooking is getting to share anything I make with the ones I love - it's so satisfying to make something they enjoy, and such a great way to express how much you care about someone. I also love that I can eat well even when left to my own devices...making dinner is so much more satisfying than just taking something out of a box.

One of my other passions is traveling, especially to other countries. I've visited 11 so far, and I love going to new places and learning about how people live in other parts of the world. In a lot of ways, the dishes that I make reflect the places I've visited because I fall in love with these international dishes and then feel that I HAVE to be able to replicate them! Even when not traveling, I love going to international restaurants - I'll try anything once(well, most things)! Eating at a Lebanese/Indian/Thai/whatever country you want's restaurant is a great way to feel like you're traveling when you're still home. :) Probably the largest influence on my cooking is Japanese - I have visited Japan twice, and I spent 2 and a half months there on my most recent visit, studying abroad. I fell in love with the food there and am always trying to make the dishes that they just don't serve at American Japanese places.

When I'm not traveling, cooking, or stressing out over school, I'm usually reading. I'm the biggest bookworm I know! My preferred form of exercise is ballroom dance - I love getting to learn new styles, but my favorites are the faster, more upbeat dances (especially swing, and especially Lindy Hop). I also love symphonic metal music, science fiction, pretty flats, Disney movies, almost anything sweet, cute stuffed animals, cocker spaniels, dystopic fiction, science-y things, life in general, and, most likely, you.<3

Welcome to my blog! I hope you enjoy my recipes. :)
